Rules to follow
- Mount tires with the same exterior diameter (or slightly smaller)
- The speedometer must not read below the actual speed. When travelling at 25 to 75 mph, the speedometer can read up to 10% more than the actual speed
- Mount tires with a load index equal to or greater than that of the original tires
- Mount tires with a speed index equal to or greater than that of the original tires (except for snow tires. More information)
- Check to see that rim width and diameter are suitable for the tire
- When using different front and rear tire dimensions on SUVs and vehicles equiped with anti-lock and anti-slip systems (ABS, ASR), the distance travelled over one turn must be taken into account
- Make sure that any dimension changes you plan to make do not pose mechanical problems (required space, extending beyond the vehicle body...)
- strong>Check with the manufacturer, the garage, and your insurance company that the dimensions of the mounted tires are approved for the use of your vehicle.

This tool shows most of the sizes of original tires. The theoratical equivalent sizes are determined from the outside diametre with a height of -3% to +3% on the upper side of the flank.
